07/02/27 "My Favorite Track ever"Was written on the board of my English classroom this week, along with the words "prepare a presentation (2mins) and bring music". All I could say, "Crap."
I listen to a LOT of music and have always found it hard to list my top 5-10 let alone pick one, so I plan to open this pointless presentation with the phrase, "this isn't my favorite, but it is up there" (thanks to Sarah for that). I also plan to add in "Honourable mentions are: (long list of songs)"
But tonight, I decided on the song I want to talk about and If I can get it on my space, give it a listen.
The song is a Nine Inch Nails cover by Johnny Cash, the song, Hurt. If you have heard it, you will agree that this is a powerful song, it stirs up all kinds of emotions and makes me feel all sad, because it is meant to, the lyrics are well written and Johnny Cash sings it with real conviction. The song is about conviction and he had many problems with drugs during his life (read: Any book about Cash/ watch: Walk the Line (2006 Joaquin Pheonix/ Reese Witherspoon) for references).
This was recorded when Cash was near death, before the death of June Carter-Cash (she is in the video with him) and the video for this song is very moving.
So, it remains to be said, that this song stood out for me because it is the one song that I know that makes me "feel" any strong emotions and I feel that some music philostines in my class need to be educated and moved while the voice of a near death Cash chills them to the core, his voice is so frail...
In passing, I ask you, in readerland, "What is your Favorite track of All time and why?"
Chris 17/12/26 The legacy of the dead hard drive.20 GB of pure dead space, that is what I am left with.
If you are a of a curious sort and wish to be told what the hell I am actually on about, I will tell you.
During the last week, my media playing device, the now out of print Archos Gmini XS200 kicked the bucket and i was left with a worthless dead hard drive, bah.
Always being the suspicious type I suspected major hax or a conspiricy of some kind, as my warranty just ran out. Typical....
Anyway i now know that this is a common problem and can be easily fixed, but I am yet to send it away.
Also, this week I came across some wierd spaces, one of which i can no longer find, must have been deleted, but there was just a lot of made up words on it.
This week i have been reading:
Laters and peace out to the 3 people that read this!
09/12/26 time waster 2000I noticed that Timewaster blogs are sprouting up more and more and I was just having a conversation with someone about how if you add large numbers to the end of something it makes it sound really gay. so I started thinking, timewaster 2000, the future of timewasting today! How bad does that sound?
Anyway, i am Currently avoiding Business studies Coursework, but it needs done for tomorrow, so i will be going back to it momentarily, not cool.
This week the song of the week is, as promised, Getting Better by Gomez from the album "Abandonned Shopping Trolley Hotline" It has been praised by even Sarah, who loves bruce springstein and has a mild dislike for the aforementioned Gomez album. I think that the song should be an instant hit with all you non-gomezzers (and non-gomezzas lol) but if you hate it with a feiry passion that burns brighter than a thousand suns, i will be changing it during the week, mebe thursday should i feel like it. I plan to add and rework the space and add some new stuff.
A cookie to my auntie Janice, who correctly told us that About a Girl was originally on Bleach. A cookie to you (tis in the folder labelled cookies lol).
This week i have been reading the following spaces:
Sarah's space
That is really it, but please pass on to whomever you know that this applies to, If you are going to post your space link on a comment, make sure it is public, please.
Peace out,
Chris
(The OVerKill ftw!) 26/11/26 Getting Better.....I got to admit, it's getting better. getting better all the time!
Enough of that Gomez song for now, it is next week's song so I'll let all you Gomez virgins hear it then.
I finally (with help from Sarah) got music on my space and i am pretty happy with it! I will play song of the week while it is reigning and have started out with a belter of a song, About a Girl by Nirvana (cookie for the person that guesses the right album, not "Nirvana"[greatest hits]!). If you really want this song but don't have it (shame on you) but ask me and if you are nice I may send it to you!
I supose I am posting this mext link more for my own god than anyone elses but this is where I hosted the music:
The linkage to how I put the music on:
For the more braincell impared among my reading public that wouldn't have figured out that this blog is just a guise, to stop my immense BOREDOM!
G'night all!
Chris
{EDIT: New look!} 12/11/26 Grammar show.....Back to the space I am, been away, I have not been, technically!!!! w00t!!111
That type of grammar is what I exect from some people and after my account of life since I was here last I will give you some linkage to the most illiterate space I know.
Well as I said in my last blog, to London I did trot and I went on the London Eye and the tube and into the science museum. I don't want this blog to be too long, so I will not elaborate. Then I flew off to Glasgow to play bridge, nuff said about that also.
Well since then it has been business as usual and the mock exams came and went and I didn't revise at all. I did pretty well too, all natural ability you know, I am just that good!
Well today I finally got MSN messenger working at my Grandas's house (brings to mind one thing which I am not keen to blog upon, in fact I never will) and I logged on to see some space update stars. I clicked on them and came to this space. The low levels of literacy and low overall quality of what is written appaled me and gave me a headache.
That is all for now, soon I may even resurect this space and song of the week, just in time for a redesign! 24/09/26 Rarity and Halloween.I have three songs of the week this week, but I will get to that later.
Well anyway, I will first address the rarity. Today, Matt, me, Aaron and Michael came up with the hilarious idea of ripping off both Friends and LOST at the same time. I won't elavborate because it is a joke that only a handful of people will understand, but it all centres around the idea of friends who hang out in the well named "Central Percolated Coffee" and share tales of their mad-capped lives and adventures which would take the form of a series of sketches in my eyes. It would be hilarious and I am formulating a plan now to broadcast this to the world....
Well if I had to elaborate on Halloween, it would be pointless since you should know by now what Halloween is, if you don't, SHAME ON YOU!!! Well, I get off school for Halloween and I will be paying a visit to my dear aunt in London, thus making all business which I may have cease for a few days.
My 3 songs are 1.Frou Frou- Let Go
2.Arctic Monkeys- I bet that you look good on the dancefloor
3.Gomez- Ping one Down (Live version is better- get the live version from the album "Way out West" disc 2)
Photos of the bands will be provided.
07/09/26 My last week....Over the last week, I have been swamped with a lot of things, random class tests, coursework at a days notice and to top off the week, a Bridge Pairs competition.
Yes all of you, I do play Bridge in my school, and I am proud of it, after all, nowadays it is classed as a sport! We played the Ireland pairs competition in Limerick, two girls from Laurel Hill in Limerick won and tey deserved it, they were really good.
Was anyone who chances to read this page there? Or do any of you want to admit to playing Bridge? post if you do.
Well then, last week's song of the week was Hot Hot Heat: Goodnight, Goodnight. I aquired that particular song ages ago, at the start of this year at least. I came across this gem hidden in the deeper reaches of my Mp3 player one day last week while listening to the previous song of the week and I rediscovered the joys of this fast-paced, cheery track.
And this week, I discovered the new joys of a song thaqt made me want to sing out loud, on te street, with my headphones on, thus embarassing myself infront of a group of the fairer sex (though you could hardly call the millies/chavettes/female spide fairer!)
This song is by Louis XIV and is called "Finding out true love is blind". Long title I know, but this song is catchy, as I demonstrated by sining out loud. I heartily recommend this song to everybody!
Peace out!
Chris 23/08/26 The irrelivance of speaking l33t.Yes, I did say l33t, the speak of the nerd. You may say that for doing this I am a nerd, I however am only doing this because I got an English-L33tspeak translator in a DVD I got with PC Gamer, so here it goes....
(I will include a translation at the end by the way.)

(So, for the remainder of this blog, I will be writing in L33tspeak, If you can understand this, then you are better than most, at being a complete nerd!!!
Up next, Song of the Week!)
How'd you like that, really irrelevant, huh.
More l33tspeak will be included in later blogs!
This week, the song of the week is catchy Scrubs theme tune Superman by Lazlo Bane, a feel-good tune that picks up everyone's spirits, an all-around cool song.
18/08/26 Welcome to Paradise!I recently found and interesting website while concocting an evil plan to make my own country, a Dictatorship in which all critics are killed and there are no elections, only me at the head of government. It would not, however be communist, or capitalist, but opressive, you only get money if i give it to you and once you come in you aren't getting out, ever.
Well Hitler was mocked as a child so in theory I could be the next dictator in Europe. We can all have dreams.
If you are interested, what I have come across is some sort of political forum come game, where you create a country and act as the leader of the country, choosing which legislations to allow and which to disallow. Great fun.
I called my country: "The Dictatorship of Lough Shore" and its profile says:
The Dictatorship of Lough Shore is a tiny, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its strong anti-business politics. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 5 million are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings." The government -- a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, corrupt, socially-minded morass -- devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as Social Welfare and Religion & Spirituality receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 39%, but much higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Cheese Exports. Crime is moderate. Lough Shore's national animal is the cookie monster, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the cookie. The site for all of this fun is Nation States and I suggest that you all join up and swamp the site!
Goodnight and stay literate! Chris a.k.a Dictator of Lough Shore! 16/08/26 Ok, I got nothing.I have to post today because it's Song Of The Week day, but I can't think of anything to pad out this otherwise pointless blog.
So, against all of my gut feelings, I may just leave it all as is and post the song of the week, which for once, is a double hitter.
This week I am featuring a song that has been covered by two groups, once by what I would believe is the original artist, due to its slow and mellow pace by Iron and Wine. This song is featured on the Garden State Soundtrack. A picture is provided of the vocalist, Sam Beam.
The other incarnation of this song was done by The Postal Service, an Electro-indie band. This version is much more upbeat, and for some, the original may not be best. I personally prefer the more upbeat version, but that is only because I find slow songs a tad depressing.
Now then, the song is called Such Great Heights, and was introduced to me in it's Postal service form by Matt. I then found the Iron and Wine incarnation, dated before Postal service's time so, I then passed this on to Matt.
So Peace Out!
Chris
Oh, one more thing, for all of you who don't know, Eddy's party is this Saturday.
14/08/26 Start of something new.Under the advice of Aaron, I'm going to start something new.
But more of that after some of this:
To Aaron and Logan, It is a song, in fact it is Whippin' Picidilly by Gomez, I have never been to Manchester or done any of that stuff, though I can't say I haven't tried...
Well, anyhoo, I want to start two things today!
1) I think that some spaces need some commenting, mine certanly did, so I'm starting the "Commenting Quest!" to rally all you non-commenters out there to start commenting.
Of course, not only on my space, that would be selfish, I want you all out in reader land to comment on other random spaces too! Maybe you will make some new friends! I'll do it too, in all fairness, sign your name on this blog if you are up for the quest!
2) I also want to start the "Quotes and Random Words Competition" so I can fill up my word list and learn a new phrase while I'm at it. I'll post the top three quotes or words of the week in a special new list that I may create depending on the response I get! If you've seen my current word list, all the words on it are used in frequention by my good friend Michael Lawrenson, anyone who knows him will be able to vouch for this. Can anyone spout words and phrases more random than him? We'll just have to wait and see!
Now, me always being a stern believer in all things random, I feel the need to post this quote that Marty has been saying all of 2 days and has made his screen name. He will murder me for this, but:
"Run like a cushion, fly like a mouse, be the small bookcase." How random.
I would also like to pledge my support for Kyle in his Better English Campaign, just because,
GRAMMAR IS MY FRIEND!!!
Yeah, that warrented bile green writing.
In one final burst of ranting, I am led to believe that it is this Monday that I am to be disecting a sheep's heart, though Mr.T. Hughes swears blind that we aren't doing it (The "T" is actually for Trevor!), we would be the only class not doing it. It should be fun because I get to do it with the idiot that is Alex Hibbert, ugh.
Sorry for my overly long blog entry, I was advised that this should be spectacular, so I made it spectacularly long and random, now all I need is a photo...
There are three of them, everyone's favorite evil monkey, Stewie and The thing with his patented catchphrase. (Am I the only one who believes that the Thing should only have said that in Fantastic 4? I mean how funny would this scene have been: "Thing will you marry me?" "It's CLOBBERIN' TIME!!!" Well, I would laugh.)
So If you read down to here, thank you, because I guarentee that this blog will have taken up a lot of time, so for now,
Peace Out!
Chris.
(Edit: On Michael's advice, I ammended my spelling. Also, sorry to Kyle for getting your name wrong!)
(edit v2: notice anything new about the space?)
(edit v3: I only thought it was long due to the extreme time I wasted typing it because of singing!)
(edit v4: Song of the week tomorrow!) 13/08/26 Ok, here I go...Once upon a time, not so long ago, we took a day out in Manchester. We all fell down, there's not enough hours in our day. We played a bit of football, fell into the union, barged our way into the toile, with the Kung-Fu King, there's not enough hours in our day.
I remember seeing someone dressed in a suit, looking like a lunatic, we all fell down, there's not enough hours in our trip. Well, academy cartwheels, breaking your hands, we got lovely posters for sale and we all fell down, there wasn't enough hours in our day.
Then we finally made our way back to the train, we were rolling in to sheffield that night, and we all fell down, there's not enough hours in our life. So try and guess my weight and wait at the station, we're whippin picadilly tonight, there not enought hours in our life.
And on the way back we shared some wine.
What do you all think, please leave your comments to tell me what you think of the account of my adventure. 10/08/26 Trying to ignore the rioting yobs and thus talking about a different topic altogether!Quite a mouthful, eh?
Well on to more distracting matters.
I really think that my space is neglected. I do update it yet it gets so much bad press from Aaron and Michael.
So in an attempt to make my efforts in hauling my previously dead space up from its grave, shaking it and shouting: "YOU ARE NOT DEAD!" and bringing this blog and entire space back to life, changing the name and refurbishing it, I really would appreciate some more comments, because if I don't get any I really will just stop posting on this blog and once more descend into speking like an imbicile with the illiterate typing.
Now that that is off my mind I would also like to announce the hopeful regularity of my Song of the week and Mike's quote box.
I will update song of the Week on Tuesdays (Starting next week ofcourse, as I'm doing one on this blog, making it really long) and Mike's word box on Mondays or Thursdays!
Also, for any previous and future songs of the week, ask me on reaperman_exe@hotmail.com and I will send some to you.
I will also be starting a list of previous songs of the week so anyone who wants a song can look on the list.
Now then Song of the week is by Mercury Prize Winner Antony & The Johnsons.
This is a song called Hope There's Someone.
It is off the Album "I'm A Bird Now".
This is an excellent song and I recommend it to anyone. 02/08/26 All about....Gomez-
The British band Gomez is a five-piece, consisting of Ben Ottewell (vocals, guitar), Tom Gray (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Paul Blackburn (bass, guitar), Olly Peacock (drums), and Ian Ball (vocals, guitar, harmonica). Whereas the majority of up and coming British bands are either retro-pop (à la Oasis), trip-hop (Portishead), or space rock (the Verve, Radiohead), Gomez is one of the few to contain bluesy elements in their rock. Their debut for Virgin Records, Bring It On, was praised in the rock press on both sides of the Atlantic. They also received the distinguished Mercury Music Prize for 1998 Album of the Year in England, where they edged out such stiff competition as Massive Attack's Mezzanine and the Verve's Urban Hymns. They completed their inaugural U.S. tour opening for Eagle Eye Cherry in October 1998, while the press still offered praise -- Spin magazine called Bring It On "a damn beautiful album," giving it an eight out of ten rating. Liquid Skin followed in 1999 and the rarities and B-sides compilation Abandoned Shopping Trolley Hotline was issued a year later. A third studio album, In Our Gun, appeared in spring 2002. Another hiatus saw Ian Ball relocating to Los Angeles, while still working with the band at their new studio in Portslade, England. The dozens of tracks recorded during this time were whittled down and fashioned into Split the Difference, released in May of 2004. By that time, Hut, their original label had gone under, leaving them signed to Virgin (Hut's distributor). Despite all the critical acclaim, sales were never up to what Virgin was expecting from Gomez, and the two sides parted ways later that year. In 2005, they signed with ATO records and released Out West, Gomez's first live album, in June of that year.
That was all about Gomez.
